When Cable television was first introduced in the mid 70′s everyone was astounded by the idea of receiving more than four channels. Cable companies tend to offer a great introductory rate for a limited amount of time and then the rates go up substantially, unfortunately the monthly rate tends to vary from month to month. This is usually a big issue because many people budget their bills according to what are supposed to be fixed rates. The satellite companies offer a guaranteed rate for a limited time, but then they guarantee the rate after the introductory time as well.
Service also plays a large part in the decision for satellite service. When there are service issues with cable television getting a technician to come out for service tends to take a great deal of time and is generally frustrating because you are forced to wait all day for a repairman. Satellite can usually fix the issue without having to send a technician, if you should need a technician they schedule as quickly as possible and give you a choice in the time frame for the tech to come to your home.
Continuous service is also top on the list for reasons to choose satellite. With cable when the weather is bad service is also bad; however, with satellite even in the most severe of weather as long as a signal is available you have access, this can be vital in situations such as hurricanes. Satellites help to keep you in touch in an emergency situation. Overall, satellite offers better pricing, better service and also offers access to many more channels than what cable can offer, which is why satellite is a better choice.
